Does Porn Effect Body Image?

With current technology pornography is so easily accessible it is now a click away.  Porn as we know has been called many things.  Some call it art while others, evil.  Some claim it is liberating, while shameful to others.

Porn can be exciting.  It can enhance arousal.  It can help partners to re-ignite their sexual life.

Regardless of how you might feel about pornography, one thing is clear.  Porn is recorded!  And like other kind of Hollywood movies, porn bares almost no similarity to our real sex lives.

Unfortunately, many people rely on porn to become sexually educated.  Most of our earliest exposure to sexuality often came from pornography.  So it only makes sense to pick up ideas on how sex should be – from porn - of course!

There is a big difference between sex in the adult films and sex in a real life.  Watching adult films can be a very healthy part of sexual expression.  Setting expectations on how you or your partner should look and react is not.  Here are 3 major problems with porn and its effect on our body image:

PORN BODIES

Would you compare your body or your looks to Angelina Jolie or Brad Pitt?  I wouldn't.  I am me, and you should aspire to be yourself too!  So why compare your body to what you see in porn?

Porn actors are selected in part for their physical attributes.  Male actors are selected for huge endowment.  Female actors for their firm – often silicon filled – breasts.  No wonder so many men complain they’re “too small,” while women complain they are not “skinny” enough.

Remember, the average penis size among male porn stars is not representative of anything in the general population.  Not to mention lighting, camera angles, make up, and even pubic hair design changes the appearance of porn star body parts!

INSTANT ERECTION THAT LASTS, AND LASTS, AND LASTS

Not only do men have an instant erection - it lasts – oftentimes for an entire duration of the film!  No wonder men struggle with performance anxiety thinking they have to sustain momentum as long as they do in porn.

Porn never depicts a man experiencing premature ejaculation.  In reality, coming too soon afflicts one-third of men of all ages.  And it varies at different times due to stress and other life related issues.

While some – but not all – young men can raise instant erections, this ability fades after the age of 40 or so.  In reality, most men require relaxation and gentle, playful, loving touch all over.  Porn neglect’s men real need for the whole body sensuality and experience.

WOMEN ARE ALL EXHIBITIONISTS

Have you ever seen an insecure woman in porn?  Nope.  I haven’t ether!  That’s because women in porn – apparently – are the most confident creatures on the planet.  They walk around naked. They flash their breasts and genitals.  They simply appear uncomfortable being clothed!

In reality, few women are exhibitionists to such extend – according to research only 1 to 2 percent!  Most real woman feel insecure about their bodies to some extend, mostly thanks to the media – and – porn.  The problem: porn viewers expect their lovers to parade around naked and can’t understand why they won’t!
