Motivational Tip | Stop Wasting Your Energy!

You're wasting tremendous energy—Dr. Z explains where it's going and where it should go instead.

Pre-transition: wasting energy ruminating about catastrophizing things you're afraid of, as if you have a crystal ball (you don't). You know you have dysphoria, you know transition will help, yet you waste energy avoiding it—keeping busy, overworking, telling yourself you're not ready or you'll do it when financially stable. Time goes by while you tell yourself these things.

Post-transition: wasting energy ruminating about things you wish were different but can't change—height (trans masculine people thinking the world revolves around tall men), hair loss, needing wigs. At what point does perfecting yourself stop?

Here's the energy concept: energy cannot be created or destroyed, only converted. You have X amount of energy. You'll spend it either way—ruminating about things you can't change, or investing in things you CAN change that bring you closer to happiness and goals.

Watch to find out why the same energy output invested differently accumulates progressive changes over time, why positive affirmations are useless without action, and why small steps compound into giant snowballs that eventually roll by themselves.
