Why Gender Decisions Are More Complicated Than You Think!
Dr. Z discusses what for so many might be the number one factor keeping you from making the decision to step into some elements of gender care or gender transition. Everybody's different and has different points that keep them at bay—this is one Dr. Z finds common again and again.
For sure, for a lot of you, it's going to be fear—fear might be keeping you at bay even though you may be ready, want to do it, and have a very strong sense of distress. Fear of the current environment, fear of the future, fears that people will abandon you. Dr. Z isn't talking about fear today—fear is natural and almost everyone feels it no matter where they're at.
Dr. Z is talking about something else: the gender dysphoria (a psychological symptom many experience as a byproduct of not feeling aligned to their assigned gender) is not a strong pain point for a lot of you yet. That's right—gender dysphoria is not strong enough. It doesn't pain you enough to step forward into any elements of gender transition.
Watch this video as Dr. Z addresses what the absence of a strong pain point means for quality of life, why human beings get habituated to experiencing certain pain limits and stay in that position, and why reaching a threshold of discomfort is when the decision becomes open.
