How Estrogen Affects Your Sex Drive!

Dr. Z discusses how feminizing hormones specifically affect sexual drive. This is the question that comes up now and again and again for a lot of individuals. She's had a lot of individuals who are either in a relationship and, as a result, don't want to go on feminizing hormones even though they do struggle with dysphoria and feel that feminizing hormones will help them in the long run. They don't want to go on feminizing hormones because they have concerns that it will affect their sexual drive, and as a result, they won't be intimate in their relationship.

A lot of people who are not in a relationship but are sexually active (which is a very important part of human development, a very important part of a healthy lifestyle), there are a lot of people who are not in a relationship but are also sexually active and are also concerned about that as well. She knows there are a lot of individuals who identify as trans feminine who have no interest in getting bottom surgery and who still want to be able to have their genitals be sexually functional for sexual purposes.

When people talk about sexual drive declining, she would say we're really looking at two things happening here: one thing is sexual desire/sexual drive declining, and another one is actually certain components of functionality decreasing (for example, being able to maintain and sustain an erection during sexual intercourse).

Watch this video as Dr. Z addresses the overarching myth about feminizing hormones and sexual function, and shares what she's actually observed over 20 years.
