Trans Women Identity Beyond Gender Stereotypes!

Dr. Z emphasizes the importance of finding your own individualistic way to define your own womanhood—what does it mean to you to be a woman? What does it mean to regain the power and ownership you have over fem identity, transform identity, whatever words you want to use?

As women of any experience—Dr. Z is a woman of cis gender history, many viewers are beautiful women of trans gender experience—we are already inundated and bombarded by social standards of what it is to be a woman. On top of that, for those with transgender experience, you're being further told that you are not a woman because you don't have certain aspects of cis gender history (can't menstruate, can't give birth to a child). All of those things have very little to do with womanhood in Dr. Z's opinion. They have a lot to do with a particular aspect of an individual's womanhood.

The ways in which we define who we are as women only matter to the extent that those things matter to us. That is all. The world is going to continue to shift, readjust, and modify what it is to be a woman. There is no one right way to be a woman. When we chase those social standards and ideas, that's when we fall into traps—because the world is going to always criticize us no matter what.

Watch this video as Dr. Z addresses why you can't win in the world of women (everyone projects their opinion), why it's important to step into the way you envision yourself versus chasing what's being perpetuated, and why clinging to stereotypes puts you into a costume that doesn't belong to you.
