Understanding the Differences: Feminine Men vs. Trans Women!

Dr. Z discusses the difference between somebody who identifies as a feminine man versus a trans woman. She gets this in her private practice a lot—people reach out trying to figure out how much of what's coming up to the surface is actually an aspect of their femininity coming forward, or how much has to do with them actually potentially identifying as trans women.

A lot of times what she sees is individuals who either assume they're a feminine man when in reality they actually are trans identified women. She also sees the reverse—when individuals think they are transgender women when in reality all they are is a feminine man. Sometimes it can be not so easy to distinguish the two, but often with enough knowledge of what constitutes a feminine man and what constitutes a trans feminine identity, it becomes much easier.

In her private practice, Dr. Z sees a lot more individuals who allow themselves to think and believe they are more a feminine man than they actually are (when they're trans identity). Often that stems from an inner area of resistance, an inner area of holding yourself back from fully accepting and acknowledging—usually that stems from either denial or repression, but it can also stem from fear.

Watch this video as Dr. Z addresses the main characteristics that distinguish feminine men from trans women and why the body always tells a story.
