Does HRT Change Your Sex Drive?

Dr. Z shares how soon once you start feminizing hormones and why your sexuality may change. Keep in mind, sexuality as you go along through transition does not change for everybody. Everybody's very different. Just because you're going through gender transition also does not mean your sexuality is going to change. However, for a lot of individuals, their sexual preferences do change, and for others, it can change in numerous different ways.

For a lot of trans women who were initially in more heterosexual relationships prior to transition (in other words, in relationships with women), their sexuality may either remain or may actually change, where they may prefer male sexual partners, or they may become more fluid, leaning toward being bisexual, pansexual, or asexual. There are numerous ways beyond just heteronormative concepts of sexuality that change for individuals.

A lot of people now tend to presume that once you start feminizing hormone therapy, if your sexuality does change (in this video, we're talking about for people for whom it does change), people attribute the change primarily to hormones. Dr. Z personally (this is just her opinion) thinks something greater is going on than just hormones changing your sexual orientation. She doesn't think hormones are responsible for changing your sexual orientation.

Watch this video as Dr. Z addresses when sexuality starts to shift during transition and why authentic sexuality that is aligned to the authentic self is dormant.
