Why Your Euphoria Fluctuates?
Gender euphoria fluctuates wildly—Dr. Z explains why sometimes you have intense urges to express your authentic gender and other times those feelings vanish completely.
Here's what's confusing: some days you have an incredibly strong urge or desire to feminize, masculinize, or express yourself in your authentic gender. Other days there's no sense of urgency, no impulse, no desire at all. If this is your true authentic gender, shouldn't euphoria always be present and constant? That's not how these feelings operate, and there are two main reasons why.
First, conscious exploration. When you're consciously allowing yourself to explore your gender—reflecting, doing the work, thinking about it—that awareness puts you in position to feel euphoria as you get closer to your authentic gender. Second, unconscious triggers. Your unconscious mind gets activated by things you encounter—seeing someone embracing the gender you see yourself being can suddenly activate dormant parts of yourself and create sudden urges you can't explain.
Watch to understand why euphoria and dysphoria fluctuate together, why sometimes other life stressors push gender feelings to the background, and why avoidance and denial can temporarily put a lid on both euphoria and dysphoria.
