DR Z PHD Interviews Aloe Miranda Barrios.

Dr. Z interviews Aloe Miranda Barrios, an incredible woman who is a marathoner and what Dr. Z calls a "sex siren" as well as a trans advocate.

Aloe is native of Los Angeles, born in Mexico, been in LA all her life. Started transitioning about six years ago. Works for a municipal government in parking. Has two companion dogs and is age 46.

She's an avid runner—been running about 16 years now. Completed 28 marathons and one ultra (consisted of 52 miles in 11 hours 59 minutes).

She got into running on her 30th birthday. A colleague at work who had been running for years suggested she should do something for her 30th birthday. She decided to run. Had about six months of training and her first marathon was LA marathon—loved it ever since.

Running requires quite a bit of discipline. She's noticed a huge parallel between running and transition—both are disciplines. You just don't put on a pair of shoes and go running. You don't put on a pair of heels and say you're gonna go dancing if you've never done it. You don't wake up one day and say "I'm going to be a woman today."

Watch for insights on transition, sex positivity, and self-love.
