Gender Dysphoria Explained in Your Own Words!

Dr. Z discusses feelings of dysphoria. This is a very large topic, so in order to cover all aspects of it, she's going to do a three-part series.

In this first video she'll talk about what constitutes feelings of dysphoria as well as the severity of it. In the second video to follow, she will talk about the absence of dysphoria in gender diverse individuals—meaning people who are gender diverse and even undergo either full or partial transition but who don't experience dysphoric feelings. Finally in a third video she'll talk about things you can do to help you cope with feelings of dysphoria.

Let's talk about dysphoric feelings and what constitutes feelings of dysphoria. Chances are many of you know exactly what she's talking about today. If not, you may be wondering if some of the feelings you have are actually feelings of dysphoria. Or maybe you are an ally trying to get a better understanding of what constitutes gender dysphoria.

Gender dysphoria is generally considered a feeling of discomfort—a feeling of unease and dissatisfaction with one's gender or anything gender related, either physical characteristics or social markers of gender.
