In today's world, trans care in the United States is definitely growing and getting better, but it's still not where it should be. Some states deliver much better trans care than others. California has bigger clinics and hospitals with transgender mental health and medical services, more surgeons who engage in care for trans community. But a lot of other places are still very much lacking in delivering top-notch transgender care—that's incredibly unfortunate and leads to people being underserved.
Some people living in certain states have a really difficult time finding providers who are knowledgeable about transgender care. Even in California with many more providers, it's still a challenge.
How can you as a consumer advocate when it comes to seeking a provider? There are actually a number of ways you can advocate for yourself.
