Stuck in a Negative Cycle of Dysphoria? Here is How to Break It!

Dr. Z shares one thing you can do that can help you break the cycle you find yourself in.

If you find yourself in any kind of cycle—whether it's fear of coming out or transitioning, self-doubt and uncertainty, trying to move forward in your life, or letting go of things that no longer serve you—whatever cycle you find yourself in that you tend to perpetuate, Dr. Z wants to share one way you can look at it to hopefully help you break away.

She loves metaphors, especially visual metaphors, because they give us a different way of looking at problems we have at hand. Today she wants to share the concept of pruning as a way of helping break cycles.

In gardening, in order for a plant or tree to grow up and exert energy from the sun into its roots and get nutrients it needs, you need to occasionally prune the tree or plant. You cut out some branches—even healthy-looking branches. By pruning them, you let go of something growing outwards in order to help the plant grow upwards.

Watch to find out how to use pruning metaphor (envision yourself as tree, each branch represents something holding you back), how to identify which branches are weighing you down, and which branches you can start pruning back.
