Motivational Tip! How to Build Your Confidence!
How do you build confidence when gender dysphoria is destroying it? Dr. Z shares a personal, transparent story about building confidence after cancer at 16—she has a massive scar from thigh to ankle, metal hardware replacing her knee, can't run or bend knee more than 90 degrees. This shattered her confidence in relationship to her body.
Her solution: the confidence pie chart. Your confidence isn't just one thing—it's comprised of different slices (intelligence, humor, personality, being a good parent/partner/human, mindfulness, helping others). Gender dysphoria is like a dark cloud overshadowing your entire confidence chart. The more you think about areas where you feel inadequate, the bigger they get and the more energy they suck.
Dr. Z's method: Close the chapter on what you can't change. Take all that energy and blast it into other areas you CAN elevate. For her, it was intelligence—"I may not have the most beautiful legs in the room, but I'll have the most beautiful brain." She worked on education, content creation, relationships, physical strength.
Watch to find out how elevating other areas elevates your entire confidence chart, and Dr. Z's fill-in-the-blank exercise for claiming who you are.
